Team Dai Challenge 2025

Saturday, November 29 to Tuesday, December 2

From Vieng Kham to Thakek in support of Lone Buffalo.

Join us for an exhilarating 4-day Team Dai Challenge through some of Laos’ most remote and spectacular landscapes, all while raising funds for a cause that changes lives. Starting from Vieng Kham, we’ll ride over 375 km on a mix of paved and unpaved roads, tackling more than 2,800 meters of climbing as we journey through valleys, caves, riversides, and dramatic karst scenery.

On Day 1, we warm up with a mix of smooth roads and dirt trails, passing striking landmarks like Nipple Mountain before arriving in the serene village of Konglor. Day 2 takes us deep underground with a boat ride through the legendary Konglor Cave, followed by a challenging climb up to the Nam Theun 2 reservoir before rolling into Gnommalat. Day 3 offers a rugged cycle to Xe Ban Fai cave, ending with a night of rustic adventure in homestays and tents. Finally, Day 4 pushes us across stretches of gravel and karst plains before a triumphant finish near Thakhek, before heading back home.

This ride is more than just a physical challenge: it’s a journey of camaraderie, adventure, and purpose. Each participant commits not only to the kilometers but also to raising funds for Lone Buffalo.

Whether you’re motivated by the thrill of rugged cycling, the beauty of Laos’ landscapes, or the chance to make a lasting impact, this is an adventure you’ll never forget.

Team Dai is pleased to announce that for our 2025 fundraising challenge we will be partnering with Lone Buffalo in Xieng Khuang.

Lone Buffalo has spent over a decade transforming opportunities for young people in rural Laos, where access to quality education and life skills training is limited. As a UK-registered charity with deep local roots, the organization provides free English classes, youth development, and leadership training, directly benefiting 200–250 students each year and indirectly impacting hundreds more through its alumni and community initiatives. Their track record speaks for itself: in just the last three years, 271 new students have joined, 101 have graduated high school, and an impressive 93% have gone on to higher education, with 13 receiving international scholarships. These outcomes prove not only the immediate value of Lone Buffalo’s work, but also the long-term transformation it delivers to one of the most disadvantaged regions in the world.

Yet this progress is at risk. With the sudden freezing of US development funds, the organization faces a $12,000 budget shortfall that threatens the continuity of its programs. Sponsorship is now essential to ensure that students do not lose access to life-changing education and development opportunities. With support, Lone Buffalo can maintain its 10 English classes, continue training future teachers through its Community Teacher Development Programme, and expand the reach of its environmental initiative, Green Buffalo, into schools, temples, and local markets. Sponsorship does more than fill a funding gap: it ensures that young people in Laos can continue to access pathways to education, leadership, and sustainable futures.
